Occasionally, the artwork that the community of dA top-favorites is pretty good. The general consensus has agreed, and for good reason, that a certain piece of artwork is awesome.

But more and more often I noticed certain deviant's artwork hitting the frontpage over and over and over. Now, I don't disagree that that deviant's artwork may indeed be awesome. But I wonder... after the same deviant has a tenth piece hit the frontpage in a single month... is the public really in love with the artpiece itself, or do they blind themselves to the fact that artist had previous art that was awesome and favorite the newest one in the sole fact it is from that artist?

The most common trend I see is in comic pages. A number of deviants have gained cult followings on dA, so that within minutes of their uploading a comic page, it hits the frontpage. But is their comic even that funny that day? I'll recognized a comic style on the frontpage as from a specific comic-artist and go to read it. A joke ensues... but, to be honest, oftentimes, I don't find the comic funny. It seems like a lot of the humor is just to repetitive in old jokes from previous comics, or sometimes it's just plain not funny. And while obviously everyone has a different degree of humor, a certain extent of them must have the same degree of humor as I do. But each time a comic from such-and-such artist is uploaded, it has more favorites than the previous comic, even if the joke or the punchline or the imagery may be just plain bad compared to any of the previous comics. It seems that regardless of whether the artist is uploading their absolute funniest or absolute crappiest comic, the masses favorite it because they put blind trust in the artist, "it must be funny, otherwise they wouldn't have uploaded it!"

And of course the masses won't open their eyes to realize what they are doing, or they'll fight to keep their eyes closed. "We want to remain ignorant to our personal opinion of what is good or not or what is funny or not or what is cool or not. Such-and-such made it, so I'll give it a star!"
